Reunion

Author: Bruce Russell

‘Russell has produced an engrossing tale of love in jeopardy, mateship in disarray, betrayal, revenge and redemption. A real page-turner from a gifted storyteller.’
Chris McLeod

When Jimmy Leathem doesn’t make it back from the Tagary Surf Club reunion, his wife Bette must confront the end of the idyll she and Jimmy shared in their split-level on Sydney Harbour.
After the funeral—not really a funeral, because there is no body, only a battered ski and the sad stories his mates tell at the inquest—Bette begins to wonder. How is it that every mate tells the same story, word for word? Why won’t Patrick Heaney, the closest mate, answer her phone calls? And who is the strange, drunken woman who calls asking for “Rupe”?
Set in Sydney’s Royal National Park, Reunion is both a sombre mystery and an uplifting love story from a writer with ‘an easy style, a talent for dialogue and an eye that dissects social mores with unassuming clarity’. (Murray Waldren, Weekend Australian).

Bruce L Russell is the author of the Hungerford Award winning Jacob’s Air (1996) and two subsequent novels, The Chelsea Manifesto (1999) and Channelling Henry (2003), all published by Fremantle Press.
